“I’m not so sure what we can say,” Jolie told ET. “I still think we’re seeing each other behind the scenes, like, ‘Did you hear…?’ I didn’t know Kit was in the film! It’s a whole thing. I’m thrilled, but I had no idea.”
Based on Jolie’s comments, it sounds like Harington is a very recent addition to the cast of The Eternals, which would explain why his role wasn’t announced at Comic-Con last month.
To be fair, Jolie isn’t the first MCU star to be surprised to learn about one of her co-stars. According to Kevin Feige, Gwyneth Paltrow had no idea Samuel L. Jackson was a part of the MCU, despite the two of them appearing in several of the same movies together. Paltrow also didn’t realize she had appeared in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The only question now is what happens if Jolie’s Thena and Paltrow’s Pepper Potts ever appear in the same Marvel movie together. If neither actress knows about the other, does the movie even exist?
