Spoilers ahead for season one of Star Wars Resistance.
Season 2 picks up “after a harrowing escape from the First Order, as Kazuda Xiono and the denizens of the Colossus wind up lost in space, pursued by Agent Tierny and Commander Pyre who have taken Tam Ryvora aboard their ship.”
The new trailer showcases some familiar faces including Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, General Hux, and Captain Phasma. We also get a glimpse of some new characters, one of which is a Hutt gangster.
Kylo Ren was referenced for the first time in season one’s “The Children From Tehar,” and it looks like he will be playing a much bigger role this time around.
Some big name voice actors are also joining Star Wars Resistance for this final season, including “Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike) as Ax Tagrin; Daveed Diggs (from the original Broadway cast of the musical Hamilton) as Norath Kev; Mathew Wood (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) as Kylo Ren; and Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess) as the Aeosian Queen.”
Star Wars Resistance was created by Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels’ Dave Filoni, and while the first season was intended to set up The Force Awakens, it will be most interesting to see how much of a glimpse we get of The Rise of Skywalker before its release in theaters on December 20, 2019.
For those looking to catch up on the series, be sure to check out our review of the premiere episode of season one, in which we said, “fun, fresh and refreshingly light, Star Wars Resistance offers a great entry point to the galaxy far, far away.”
