Serkis and Reeves have a professional history, with the pair working together on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes. Reeves directed Serkis’ performance as Ceasar in both films.
The report also details rumours that suggests The Batman is looking to cast an actor between the ages of 20 and 40 to play The Penguin. While Serkis is aged 55 and thus outside of that age range, he does seem a sensible choice for the role.
It’s worth re-emphasising that this story is based in Batman on Film’s anonymous sources, and so cannot be verified. However, the website is traditionally trustworthy, and so this seems a worthwhile rumour to keep an eye on.
Other rumours suggest that Two-Face and Mad Hatter are on the cards to appear in The Batman. They will face Robert Pattinson’s Batman, who was cast after a costume test that saw him up against Nicholas Hoult.
