Conan Chop Chop was officially, seriously announced during the PC Gaming Show at E3 2019.
Conan Chop Chop was originally revealed on April Fools’ Day, but Funcom and Mighty Kingdom were being totally serious. Coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on September 3, 2019, Conan Chop Chop is a rogue-like, four player co-op, hack and slash, stick figure game.
“Keeping this a secret has been a hardship,” said Funcom CEO Rui Casais. “The feedback we got from fans when we released the April Fools’ Day trailer was amazing and remarkably unanimous, and so I have been itching to give them the good news ever since. But don’t be fooled by the game’s humoristic and quirky looks. There is a lot of hard work being put into this, and the game should thrill roguelike fans and hack & slash fans alike.”
Conan Chop Chop supports up to 4 players through couch co-op, and is set in the world of Hyboria. Players have to stop an evil wizard named Thoth-Amon, who is attempting to resurrect the even more evil wizard Xaltotun. Players can choose between known Conan heroes, like Conan, Pallantides, Valeria or Bêlit. Explorable areas include the desert of Koth, the enchanted Darkwood, the burning slopes of Hyperborea, and the icy Vanaheim – each holds a deadly dungeon.
Loot includes brooms, bastard swords and more that can be used as weapons, combos punctuate the typical slashing in the game, bosses, like a giant gorilla in a cape with moves like Lava Reflux, LoogieGlob and more are featured, and the randomly generated maps, weapons and abilities increase replayability.
During the same PC Gaming E3 2019 show, Chivalry 2 was announced for PC, and Zombie Army 4: Dead War was announced for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
