CW has announced that an animated series focused on Batman villain Deathstroke is in development for its CW Seed digital platform. As reported by THR, the news was revealed during CW’s upfront presentation and will follow Slade Wilson/Deathstroke as “his family is threatened by the murderous villain Jackal and terrorist organization HIVE.”

Deathstroke has been a recurring character on CW’s Arrow played by Manu Bennett, however, he hasn’t been as big a part on the series since Warner Bros. began working on the Deathstroke feature film that would star Joe Manganiello.

It’s important to note that the DC movies and the CW shows do not share continuity, so these would be two separate stories based on the same character.

Being on CW Seed, this Deathstroke animated series would not appear on DC Universe which is home to such shows as Titans, Young Justice: Outsiders, Doom Patrol, and Swamp Thing.
