Streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and content-specific services like the horror-focused Shudder allow you to check out movies that have been out for a while. However, every week, digital storefronts like Google Play, iTunes, Vudu, and more release new movies before they come out on DVD or Blu-ray, and months before they hit any streaming service. And this week, there are plenty of movies you may want to check out.
The biggest digital release of the week is How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. The third installment in the heartfelt animated series follows Hiccup and his dragon Toothless, as they discover Toothless isn’t the only Night Fury, and the two go on an adventure to find a secret hidden world filled with dragons.
However, the digital release you need to check out is Season 1 of YouTube Premium’s Cobra Kai. The series takes place decades after the events of The Karate Kid, following Johnny Lawrence as he reopens the Cobra Kai dojo and trains new students. If you’re not sure about picking it up, you can watch the first episode for free. If you love The Karate Kid, this is the perfect companion piece, and there are plenty of references to specific moments from the original movie.
As far as physical releases go, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part arrives on DVD and Blu-ray, which takes the heroes of the first film into space to stop the evil Lego Duplos. Additionally, What Men Want hits stores this week, a remake of What Women Want with the roles reversed and starring Taraji P. Henson.
