Grab your friends, family, and maybe even some enemies, because a number of fantastic board games are on sale right now at various retailers. Headlining the deals is the lowest price we’ve seen yet on Gloomhaven, plus deep discounts on games about haunted houses, Greek gods, and silly word play. Let’s take a look at deals that can bring new life to game night.
Gloomhaven for $89.99
We tout the award-winning board game Gloomhaven every time its price dips, but we’ve only seen it drop this low once before. Massdrop has this epic 20-pound set on sale for under $90. It’s a single-player or co-op game that has you adventuring into dungeons, collecting loot, and developing your abilities in an ever-expanding story that can go on for 100 hours if you want it to. Grab it before the price goes back up to the MSRP of $140.
Bloodborne for $21.15
Everyone knows Bloodborne is an intense action game for PS4. But what this tabletop game presupposes is, what if it wasn’t? What if it was a card game instead? With the same Gothic setting, this game brings three to five players into the Chalice Dungeon, where they’ll fight through terrifying monsters together – at least until they decide to secretly betray one another.
Betrayal at House on the Hill for $20.99
Betrayal at House on the Hill finds three to six players entering a spooky mansion, because what’s the worst that could happen? First your team explores and discovers spooky omens. Eventually something happens to make one player betray the others, at which point that player leaves the room to read a special scenario. Meanwhile, the remaining players read their side of the scenario to learn what they need to do to win the game. From that point on, it’s the heroes versus the betrayer. The game comes with 50 unique scenarios, which amounts to a whole lot of re-playability.
Arkham Horror for $24.99
One or two players (or up to four if you buy two sets) enter a realm of Lovecraftian horror in this role-playing card game. Each investigator has unique strengths and weaknesses that help and hamper them as they go up against beasts, cultists, and all kinds of mysterious phenomenon.
Santorini for $16.92
This quick and easy-to-learn strategy game has two to four players racing to build and a three-story building modeled after the famous blue-capped architecture of the Greek island. The catch is that other players are trying to block you and can play special God cards to change the rules and get an advantage. But then again, so can you.
Apples to Apples for $14.44
Not every game has to be made for elite teams of board game aficionados. Apples to Apples is a light party game with rules so easy to learn even a roomful of drunk people can participate and have fun with it. This I know from experience.
