The other Little Mac.
When it comes to computers, one thing is true for most people: you need one. Tablets and smartphones are great, but there’s nothing like having windowed apps, a keyboard, and a mouse or trackpad for doing more demanding work. For those of us who prefer the sleek design and sturdy OS on the Mac side of the digital divide, some MacBook deals are afoot right now at Amazon. So if you’ve had your eye on a MacBook Pro or a MacBook Air, now is a good time to buy. Check out the Apple deals below.
MacBook Pro Deal
You can save $200 off the list price of the 13-inch Apple MacBook Pro (the model without the Touch Bar, praise the sun). It comes with a 2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, and 128GB SSD. If you need more storage space, you can kick it up to 256GB SSD while still saving $200.
This MacBook Pro is available in either Silver or Space Gray, and it comes with a pixel-dense Retina display, two Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports, and a battery capable of powering the machine for 10 hours between charges. Not bad.
MacBook Air Deal
The latest model of the slimmer, lighter MacBook Air is also on sale at Amazon for $150 off. This model represents a major update for the MBA product line, bringing several advantages over the previous model, including a 13.3-inch Retina screen, a Force Touch trackpad, and a TouchID sensor that can read your fingerprint in lieu of a password. And with $150 off the MSRP, this is probably the MacBook Air to get right now.
But if you want to save even more money, you can get the 2017 MacBook Air for $350 off, bringing the price down to $799.99. It’s still a fine computer, but it lacks the fancy features mentioned above. Still, the price is certainly right.
External Hard Drive
The one thing that still drives me nuts about these MacBooks is the cost of storage. Apple charges much more than market price to swap out a bigger SSD, which would be fine if they made these machines easier to open up and tinker with. But since DIY upgrades are no longer viable for most MacBook owners, you can always add extra storage externally. This compact 2TB drive from WD ought to give you all the additional space you need.
