Batman #66 – $3.99
Writer Tom King | Artist Jorge Fornes | Cover Artist Tom King (DC Comics)
Writer Tom King took a quick break from Batman while the series tied into the events of Heroes in Crisis, but he’s back to continue the ongoing “Knightmares” storyline. Batman has finally uncovered the truth behind the false reality that now surrounds him, but that doesn’t mean he’s any closer to escaping this psychological prison. Fans of The Question will definitely want to snag this issue, as Vic Sage finally makes his return to help guide the Dark Knight through this challenge.
Cosmic Ghost Rider Destroys Marvel History #1 – $3.99
Writers Paul Scheer & Nick Giovanetti | Artist Gerardo Sadoval | Cover Artist Gerardo Zaffino (Marvel Comics)
Cosmic Ghost rider has easily been among the coolest new additions to the Marvel Universe in the last several years. Who doesn’t love the idea of a Frank Castle driven completely batty by billions of years of suffering and a few super-powered upgrades? The question is whether this character can retain his appeal when not handled by co-creators Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw. That’s something we’ll find out with his newest miniseries. In this book, Cosmic Ghost rider finds himself thrust back in time to the debut of the Fantastic Four. What happens when Frank decides to muck about with the Marvel Universe timeline all over again?
Doomsday Clock #9 – $4.99
Writer Geoff Johns | Artist Gary Frank (DC Comics)
As we say every time a new issue of Doomsday Clock finally arrives, it doesn’t matter how long the wait becomes so long as the end product is great. And so far this series hasn’t disappointed. Issue #9 promises plenty more of Doctor Manhattan as his climactic confrontation with Superman draws close. The cover also teases some reveals about the fate of the legion of Super Heroes. Will the Legion finally return to usher in a brighter future for the DCU?
Ronin Island #1 – $3.99
Writer Greg Pak | Artist Giannis Milonogiannis (BOOM! Studios)
While BOOM! Studios has been doing great work with a number of different licensed properties lately, it’s important to remember they’re also a home for daring creator-owned work as well. That’s what we’re getting with Boom’s newest miniseries. Mech Cadet Yu writer Greg Pak and Old City Blues artist Giannis Milonogiannis are teaming for a fantasy story set in the Feudal Japan era. The titular island is a place where Japanese, Chinese and Korean refugees make a new home after a devastating tsunami. Despite their cultural differences, they’re forced to band together when the Shogun comes calling and the threat of a demonic invasion looms.
