Guardians of the Galaxy #1 – $4.99
Writer Donny Cates | Artist Geoff Shaw | Cover Artist David Marquez (Marvel Comics)
For the better part of a decade now, the Guardians of the Galaxy roster has centered around the same five heroes – Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon and Groot. But with that team having been torn apart thanks to the events of Infinity Wars, the time has come for a new Guardians team to rise amid the ashes of the old one.
This new series should appeal to fans of multiple Guardians eras, as it includes mainstays like Star-Lord and Groot, old favorites like Phyla-Vell, Nova and Moondragon and even a few new oddballs like Beta Ray Bill and Cosmic Ghost Rider. Better still, this new series features the creative team behind “Thanos Wins,” one of the best stories ever to star the Mad Titan. If that’s not incentive enough to check this book out, we don’t know what is.
Blossoms 666 #1 – $3.99
Writer Cullen Bunn | Artist Matt Herms | Cover Artist Laura Braga (Archie Comics)
With so many iconic Archie characters being given a dark, horror-flavored makeover, it was only a matter of time before the Blossom siblings had their time up to bat. Blossoms 666 re-imagines Cheryl and Jason as two wealthy, beloved Riverdale residents who both aspire to become the Antichrist. Unfortunately, only one of them can lay claim to that title, resulting in the ultimate tale of sibling rivalry.
Naomi #1 – $3.99
Writers Brian Michael Bendis & David F. Walker | Artist Jamal Campbell (DC Comics)
The new Wonder Comics imprint already got off to a strong start this month thanks to Young Justice #1. Now it’s expanding and shining a light on a brand new teen heroine making her DC Universe debut.
This new series introduces the titular heroine, a teen girl coming to terms with her own mysterious origins in the wake of a major superhuman battle. This is a series that looks to build a compelling new mystery in the DCU. We’re also hopeful that writers Brian Bendis and David F. Walker can establish Naomi as DC’s answer to teen Marvel icons like Miles Morales and Kama Khan.
Aliens: Resistance #1 – $3.99
Writer Brian Wood | Artist Robert Carey | Co er Artist Roberto de la Torre (Dark Horse Comics)
If you’ve been jonesing for a sequel to 2016’s Aliens: Defiance, the wait is over. Resistance brings back writer Brian Wood and continues where Defiance left off. Even better, this sequel will tie even more directly into the events of the Alien: Isolation video game. This time, Ellen Ripley’s daughter Amanda is taking center stage as she joins forces with Zula Hendricks and tries to expose Weyland-Yutani’s crimes.
