Start your own gym at home.
If you’re a regular gym-goer, you’ve definitely noticed the workout room gets a little more crowded this time of year. Everyone is barreling head-first into their fitness goals for the new year. If you’d rather not mess with a gym membership, or you don’t feel comfortable at the gym, there are a lot of great ways to get in shape and save money with deals on home fitness equipment.
If you made a New Year’s resolution to increase your level of fitness, I applaud you. Even if it you didn’t make it a resolution, having some equipment around is a great way to motivate you to get into better shape while you watch The Office on Netflix again.
Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells for $224.10
Dumbbells are an awesome, versatile way to build strength and endurance. This set from Bowflex is adjustable, so rather than fill up an entire wall with different weights, you can just pack all of them into a tiny space and store them in the corner. Plus they’re app-enabled, so you can use technology to build your strength, and do it from the comfort of your home. You can order them from Amazon and get free 2-day shipping, or (depending on your location) you could order them at Walmart and pick them up today.
JBL E55BT On-Ear Wireless Headphones for $104.95
A good set of wireless headphones is probably the most important piece of fitness equipment you can own. Listening to pump-up music is critical to your workout’s success. Load up your phone with an appropriate playlist and it will help push you through that brickwall you just slammed up against. And even better, you can use wireless headphones for other things, too. You don’t need to workout to enjoy them! These JBLs are on sale in assorted colors to match your style AND they have free shipping.
Weider Pro 225 L Bench for $42.99
You don’t need a bench to throw some weights around, but it definitely increases the number and type of exercises you can do. If you’re getting the Bowflex set, you might as well get this bench, too. It’s on sale, goes together easily, and like all exercise equipment, it can eventually be used to drape clothes on if you stop using it for its intended purpose.
For $45 more, you can get the Weider Pro 265 Standard Bench with 80-pound vinyl weight set. It has more versatility than the Pro 225, and comes with a bar and weights to get you started on your bench press. Don’t worry if you can’t put up your body weight on your first try. In fact, don’t try that. Not without a spotter.
Exerpeutic 260 Air Elliptical for $99
Cardio is my least-favorite kind of exercise, which is why I don’t do it nearly enough. It’s just extremely boring, in my opinion. I recognize the health benefits of a healthy cardiovascular system, but I also hate boredom. You can see the pickle I’m in. For $99, though, I’m seriously considering this elliptical from Walmart, planting it in front of my TV, and binge watching some Netflix series.
If you’re looking for something a little more space-saving, you can pick up the Stamina InMotion compact elliptical and hide it under your desk and pretend you’re riding a recumbent bicycle through your work. It’s not on sale but it’s still a good choice if you want to save money and space.
Precor EFX 221 Energy Series Elliptical Crosstrainer for $1299
If you’re after a serious piece of equipment, this gym-quality elliptical is on sale at Amazon today, marked down a full $700 from its list price. This is a really nice piece of equipment with digital heart rate monitoring, 12 pre-programmed workouts, and 3 different elevation options to turn your legs into jelly.
