Although the John Wick movies are named after Keanu Reeve’ reluctant-but-ruthless hitman, the series is packed with some great supporting characters. John Wick 3: Parabellum is currently in production ahead of its May 2019 release, and a new on-set image of two familiar characters has been released.
The image shows Ian McShane and Lawrence Fishburne, reprising their roles as Winston and The Bowery King. McShane has been in the series since the first movie in 2014, while Fishburne joined for John Wick: Chapter 2 last year. Check it out below:
This image follows one released in June of Halle Berry, who is playing a new character called Sofia. We’ve also had this first teaser that marked the start of production. John Wick 3: Parabellum hits theaters on May 16, 2019, and the cast also includes Asia Kate Dillon (Orange is the New Black), Mark Dacascos (Cradle 2 the Grave), Jason Mantzoukas (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place), and Angelica Huston (Isle of Dogs).
John Wick 3: Parabellum is directed by Chad Stahelski, who helmed Chapter 2 and co-directed the first movie. Last year, Stahelski spoke about his plans for the new movie. “We want, not so much to go bigger on the third one, but to show you more of the intricacies of the world,” he said. “I feel like there are all these different subtleties that I skipped over in Part 2, that I’d like to go back to [with Part 3] and show you the inner workings of different parts of New York.”
Development of the long-rumored John Wick TV spin-off The Continental was also confirmed by Starz in January. The channel’s president Chris Albrecht said that the show will “include the thunderous fight sequences and intensely staged shootouts between professional assassins and their targets that fans have come to expect in the John Wick movie franchise as well as introducing some new, darkly compelling characters who inhabit this underground world.” The Continental does not yet have a premiere date.
